As a reaction to spending so much of my photo career trying to create sharp, perfect images, I began to experiment with super-cheap film cameras like the Holga and Lubitel. I also learned through a photo journal how to load 35mm film into a medium format camera, which is why the film's sprocket holes are part of the images. I found all of the imperfections wonderful, and picking images off of a roll became a process of discovery, as the results were never certain due to the various techniques involved. Just to be clear, there is no digital to this body of work. They were shot on 35mm film and printed on 16" x 20" type-c photo paper in a dark room.
